Building Safer Futures: Gamuda Advances Safety Training Through Virtual Reality Innovation

Following the success of the GAMUDA BIMAR initiative, Gamuda continues to pioneer digital transformation with the introduction of Virtual Reality (VR) Safety Training. The team’s latest innovation, VR Safety Training, redefines how construction safety is taught and experienced.

VR technology immerses users in a computer-generated 3D environment through a head-mounted display, allowing them to experience realistic, first-person scenarios in a fully controlled virtual setting. Widely used across industries for simulation-based training, this technology enables participants to safely engage with high-risk situations without real-world exposure.

A construction professional uses VR technology within the dedicated “Virtual Reality Room” to undergo immersive training for infrastructure projects.

Recognising the potential hazards of on-site training, Gamuda developed immersive learning modules and story-driven simulations crafted by Gamudians themselves. After extensive research and development, the project features a range of safety-focused simulations designed to improve knowledge retention and engagement through realistic, interactive experiences.

The VR Safety Training focuses on simulating high-risk construction activities and the training modules cover a range of topics including:-

  • Heat Stress Management – Demonstrate the correct first-aid procedures for handling heat stroke incidents on-site.
  • Lifting Operation – Introduces the various lifting tools and equipment available on-site and explains their proper and safe operation.
  • Struck by Falling Objects – Simulates real-life incidents involving falling objects, illustrating preventive measures and the correct response protocols.
  • Electrical Safety – Provides a hands-on simulation on safely handling electrical components to prevent electrocution and related hazards.

These modules equip construction professionals with vital safety knowledge while minimizing exposure to real-world risks.
