Democratising Design and Enhancing Visual Communications with Artificial Intelligence

An Exploration for Potential Upskilling

Recently, Adobe have collaborated with Gamuda Excellence Transformation to organise an explanatory session into artificial image generation using Adobe’s new tool, Firefly. This session is aimed at understanding the nature and progress of this particular technology and how it could benefit Gamudians, especially those with visual components in their workflow. The online session was attended by over 200 people, including our teams from Australia, Singapore, and Vietnam.

Throughout the session, Gamudians learned how AI tools could significantly reduce the time required for traditionally time-consuming tasks. With these tools, each department can help expedite the conceptualisation process, democratising design capabilities across the workforce.

The event was led a GET representative, Sanchita Gupta, Senior CSM APAC, and Sosing Shadang, CSM Adobe India, both sharing their insights into featured tools like Adobe Firefly and Express.

Practical demonstrations highlighted the seamless integration of Firefly in Photoshop and Adobe Express for various creative projects, ensuring accessibility for all employees, regardless of their design experience.

A Discussion On Copyright and Commercialisation

During the workshop, a key discussion point was the copyright status of images generated by Adobe’s tools. Participants inquired whether Adobe could guarantee these images were safe for commercial use. Adobe representatives explained that all images are sourced from Adobe Stock, which comprises licensed content, or from publicly available resources where expired licenses are expired.

“We believe in delivering technology that is ethical and safe for business, drawing from licensed and public domain content where copyrights have expired for training, and minimizing model bias to reflect the diversity of your customers and markets.”

Furthermore, Adobe assured attendees that their models are not trained on customer-generated data, ensuring that company data remains private and is not used for training purposes. The participants received this commitment to data privacy and image licensing well, highlighting Adobe’s dedication to legal and secure content generation.

The Takeaway

Overall, the session has introduced and conceptualisation skills accessible to all the layers of the workforce, with a focus on improving organisational communication.

At the tail end of the session, we discussed relevance of these tools for visual communication and suggested practical use of Firefly tools in promoting various initiatives at Gamuda, reducing barriers, and enhancing the creative process. Attendees were encouraged to continue exploring these tools and were promised follow-up sessions to dive deeper into the features.
