- A novel extension to the multi-mode tunnel boring machines with four different tunnelling modes, a first in mechanised tunnelling. The technology was specially designed by MMC Gamuda in collaboration with Herrenknecht AG to build the twin tunnels for the Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line. The project was situated in mixed ground conditions with sections of extreme karstic limestone known to be some of the most difficult geologies for TBMs to operate in.
